Shortly after the turn of the month, there is news from Mahle. The manufacturer of the X35+ drive has fundamentally revised its app concept. In future, it will be based on three pillars, that is to say three applications. The most interesting app for you is probably the “MySmartBike” app.
Matching the compact, lightweight drive, the new app has been given a decidedly sporty orientation. With the help of the application, you can record training cycles and routes, for example. Important parameters such as incline, decline, heart rate, lap times and total times are recorded. These can be viewed on your smartphone unhurriedly after the whole ordeal.
Overview on the smartphone, analysis on the PC
Mahle has also implemented a version of the “MySmartBike” app for desktop PCs. This not only provides a clearer presentation than on an eight-inch display, but probably also additional functions at the same time. So, anyone who has always wanted to evaluate the tours on their Mahle-powered ebike in as much detail as possible will have more opportunities to do so in future. The display of health data, topographies of the routes ridden, the retrieval of route information and connection with services from third-party providers such as Strava and Co. have been announced. Of course, you can use this extra information in subsequent training sessions.
If you want to be even more specific, you can tell the motor exactly how much support it should give you while riding. This is based on certain ranges of the heart rate, which you specify and couple with a degree of motor power that you also select yourself. If your heart rate increases, the ebike will compensate by increasing the power of the motor. When you return to your predefined comfort zone, the motor shifts down a gear accordingly. We have not yet been able to test how well this works in practice. On paper, however, it reads very promising. At least, if you want to get to grips with your own riding experience on the ebike at this level.
Additional applications for other user groups
If all of this sounds like too much minutiae, rest assured that the “MySmartBike” app will of course also provide you with essential information such as the charging status and other information about the bike’s status in real time.
In addition to the “MySmartBike” app, Mahle has presented two other apps. “SmartBike Lab” is aimed at specialist retailers and “Production” at manufacturers of ebikes. With these additions, the manufacturer wants to give its solutions more connectivity. In the long term, the Spanish-based company has certainly set its sights on a future in which intelligent sensors on the bike interact with artificial intelligence to ensure an exchange of information between the participants in road traffic and enable completely different applications.
For the moment, the vision still seems to suffer from a few teething problems. For example, the new products were supposed to be available in the Google Play Store and the App Store from the end of November. As of today, this is not yet the case. We are keeping our fingers crossed that this will change in the next few days.

This app is so bad it is laughable. I cannot believe that any firm with any self-respect could actually publish it. Did anyone actually test this piece of junk? Most of the time it wont even connect with my bike. Get a grip!
I use this app and its connected to my Merida eScultura 400 via a Samsung Galaxy s10e (Android 12). I specifically use the apps ‘pulsometer’ feature which has a set HR target that the Mahle motor automatically adjusts power seamlessly to keep me at that Cardiac level. I find the apps other features and informative display useful and have absolutely no issues with it. Note: I have a career in IT & telecommunications. PS. Only data metric missing is cadence 🤔
Will this app allow you to know in real time the amount of assist you are getting. I have a Canondale ebike and that was available on your previous ebikemotion app.
Yes it will. Thanks.
