Fazua Ride 60 Ebike System Gains Two New Components

Fazua novelties for the 2025 season

Fazua seems to be taking things a little easier for the 2025 season. At Eurobike 2024, the drive system manufacturer presented just two new products for its Ride 60 ebike system.

The first newcomer is a new battery. The Fazua Energy 480 is basically a further development of the only energy source previously available for the Ride 60 system, the Fazua Energy 430. The name easily reveals what the main difference between the two is. With 50 additional watt hours, the Energy 480 provides a higher capacity. According to the manufacturer, this can increase the range of ebikes by around ten per cent.

Identical. And yet not.

In terms of design and, especially, weight, the Energy 480 and Energy 430 are indeed similar. Both weigh the same 2.2 kilograms. However, the comment about the identical design is only partly true. Fazua only manufactures a single version of the new Energy 480, which bicycle manufacturers will install permanently in the down tube of their ebikes. This means that the only option for charging is via the charging socket integrated into the bike. Fazua also offers the well-known Energy 430 to bicycle manufacturers alternatively as a removable version. And this one, with its recessed grip, charging status display and charging socket on the back, looks somewhat different. To speak of an identical design would be a bit misleading.

It is expected that bicycle manufacturers will start equipping their first models with the Fazua Energy 480 from 2025. Those who currently ride an ebike with a Ride 60 and a permanently installed battery have reason to be happy. In the future, they will have the opportunity to have their battery replaced with the higher-capacity update by a specialist retailer. Of course, this will not be free of charge.

A different solution for haptics and functionality

The second innovation will appear on the handlebars. A further control unit for the Ride 60 could soon appear there. At first glance, the Fazua Mode Control, with its narrow black ring-shaped construction, is reminiscent of the Fazua Ring Control. However, if you look more closely, two significant differences become apparent. There is now not just one nose protruding from the ring, but two. A hollow is created between the two, in which you can place your thumb. Moving your thumb up and down along the ring allows you to switch between the different riding modes. It is likely that the light and the walk assist can be switched on and off in a similar way. However, we cannot say this with absolute certainty at the moment.

The Fazua Mode Control is similarly slim to the existing Fazua Ring Control.

What is certain is that Fazua has changed the way the Boost mode is activated on the Mode Control. On the Ring Control, you could increase the maximum motor power to 450 watts for a few seconds by pressing the nose upwards for two seconds. This often raised the question of whether the two seconds were over or not. Fazua has eliminated such concerns on the Mode Control with an extra button for activating the Boost function. Press once – and that’s it. Or press again immediately after the boost phase has ended. We haven’t been able to test this yet, but it does look like a small but successful improvement. It’s quite possible that the time of the Ring Control is coming to an end.

In any case, you will be able to exchange a Mode Control for a Ring Control at a later date. The new control unit is compatible with the Fazua LED hub integrated in the top tube. According to Fazua, its inner workings are reliably protected against water, mud and dust. So you should be well prepared for all eventualities in this regard.
