This cable allows you to charge your Apple devices, iPod, older iPad and your iPhone while riding your electric bike.
Connecting the cable
No rocket science at all. Pay attention: the cable is not intended for the Smart System, which is the new Bosch system, but rather for the older generation: Intuvia display, Kiox display and the Nyon. All three displays are available in our shop and linked in the description.
The Purion does have a USB port, but this is only used to install software updates. It does not have a charging function.
The connection with the interview display is really easy. You always have a rubber cover, just open it, connect the cable (see the picture above), plug it in. Let’s get the phone. Plug in the cable, switch on the device and see: it’s charging. BOOM! That’s all it is.
With the Kiox display, it’s always a bit more difficult. We would recommend that you simply remove the Kiox display, open the rubber cover at the bottom and insert the cable. Connected. Mobile phone. Done. If you have ever tried to plug in a cable in the Kiox display, it’s just hard to get down there. If you take the display off, it’s much easier. It’s kind of blocked by the stem. But basically, with all three devices, just take off the rubber seal, plug it in, attach the mobile phone, iPod, iPad and off you go.
If you want to connect your mobile phone, carry it with you, navigate, listen to music or podcasts, whatever: there are plenty of mobile phone holders on the market. Multifunctional gadgets that are simply attached to the handlebar with a clamp. Put the phone in, if there’s room somewhere on the handlebar. Of course, you still need that. The cable is relatively long at 450 mm, but it won’t reach into your jacket or trousers pocket. That would be a bit complicated.
Certified by Apple: this means that your device recognises the whole cable as a truly approved Apple product and not as a third-party product or malware. You simply connect it to the bike, to the mobile phone and you have the charging function, and everything works perfectly.
The cable is also packaged in a very nice and simple way. Environmentally friendly in a well recyclable cardboard. Just order it in our shop and have fun with it on your next bike trips!
I bought cables like these to connect my Samsung Galaxy with my Kiox display and my wife’s Iphone 13 connecting to her Purion display. Sadly niether would charge. I had to pester their tech support to admit the output from the USB socket on Purion and Kiox is insufficient for modern mobile phones. Their web pages clearly state the USB port is for charging phones but omit to mention the low current capability. Poor customer service from Bosch.
