Magura and Bosch eBike Systems are opening a new chapter in their cooperation. Both companies, which will continue to operate independently of each other, are founding the joint brand “Magura Bosch Parts & Services”, or “MBPS” for short.
If this sounds familiar to you, you are absolutely right. About two years ago, a joint venture between the two partners was launched under the same name. Now the next step towards an independent company follows. The main location will remain Bad Urach in Baden-Württemberg.
New brand follows common interest
According to information from MBPS, the connection to the two parent companies Magura and Bosch eBike Systems will be further expanded in this course. This announcement primarily refers to the design of internal processes and the making of strategic decisions. MBPS is paying particular attention to its activities abroad. In the long run, the locations there should be able to offer more services in the future, according to a MBPS spokesperson. The guiding principle would always be to act in the best possible interests of Magura and Bosch eBike Systems.
The MBPS statement clearly shows the will to take on more responsibility and to noticeably expand its own portfolio. This is based, among other things, on an enormously increased number of employees. “About 10 years ago, we were 20 employees, dealing exclusively with service and spare parts management for Magura,” says Martina Class, Chairwoman of the Management Board of MBPS. “Today, around 170 employees are working in Bad Urach and the other European sites.”
Own logo, own site
With the establishment of the new brand, it will soon be easier for you to see who you are dealing with – Magura, Bosch or MBPS. The first two will continue to communicate in their corporate colours. MBPS, on the other hand, will have its own logo and website. At www.mbps.eu you will find more information about the brand’s products and services.
How it all began
The close relationship between Magura and Bosch eBike Systems goes back to 2011. At that time, Bosch presented its first electric drive for bicycles. Magura was responsible for servicing the systems. The company also supplied the necessary spare parts. In practice, however, most of you will not notice much of this. For example, a replacement battery for a Bosch drive is actually provided by Magura. However, the battery will of course have Bosch written on it and will be handed over to you in a bicycle shop or you will take it out of the box in which it is delivered by the online shop yourself. So, the partnership is one that is largely at the distribution and logistics level, so from your point of view it’s more behind the scenes.
