The SHIMANO XTR RD-M9100 rear derailleur is exclusively for use on MTBs with 1x12-speed drivetrains and the 10-45T or 10-51T cassette and thus offers a huge gear ratio range. It is characterised by lightning-fast and absolutely precise shifting processes. A 13-tooth guide pulley, a damper and an additional stop on the swingarm counteract drive noise and provide a good portion of comfort. The lower preload and chain tension in the lower gears also contribute to this. The SHADOW RD PLUS technology effectively prevents the chain from slipping and jumping off.

The high-end rear derailleur is available with a long cage (SGS) for the 10-51T cassette and with a short cage (GS) for the 10-45T cassette. With 28mm more ground clearance compared to the SGS, the GS version is particularly suitable for an aggressive riding style. However, both versions are characterised by a flat construction. This reduces the risk of getting caught on stones, trees or similar things in the terrain.

A big extra of the XTR components is the low weight and the high-quality workmanship. The M9100 rear derailleur weighs only approx. 237 g in the GS version. Details such as flour-coated joint bushings and rear derailleur rollers with sealed industrial bearings guarantee, among other things, a high life expectancy.

Technologies

SHADOW RD PLUS
A stabiliser in the rear derailleur effectively prevents the chain from slamming off-road. This improves chain guidance and reduces the risk of the chain jumping off. In addition, the technology ensures less noise in the drive.
