With the SHIMANO STEPS battery BT-E8016 now also SHIMANO brings an external power plant with 630Wh capacity to the start. Thus, it is  the battery with the largest capacity from SHIMANO, next to the new internal BT-E8036. With this high capacity, extended mountain bike tours are now easily mastered. As usual, the battery offers a long service life. After 1,000 charging cycles you still have at least 60% of the total capacity.

The battery is compatible with the existing EC-E6000, EC-E6002 and EC-E8004 chargers. With the latter, the Li-Ion cells are 100% charged after 6 hours. After only 3 hours it is already 80%. This is done either externally or also in mounted condition on the wheel.

Replace Shimano BT-E8010 with BT-E8016

The Shimano BT-E8010 battery can be replaced with the larger Shimano BT-E8016 battery. The body height of the BT-E8016 has become about 2cm higher. The length and width as well as the battery substructure (frame lock mount) are identical. It is strongly recommended during the conversion to replace the old battery holder BM-E8010 with the new battery holder BM-E8016.

The external battery is attached to the frame by means of the battery holder BM-E8016.

The holder BM-E8016 was designed by Shimano stronger to be able to hold the higher weight of the BT-E8016 compared to the BT-E8010 Shimano Steps batteries safely. In addition, the BM-E8016 battery holder is downward compatible with the smaller Shimano BT-E8010 battery.

Due to the shapely design, it fits perfectly into the design of your bike. LEDs show you the current charge level or inform you through an error signal, should there be an error in the system. An ON / OFF switch is of course also available. The battery is secured by a lock in the battery holder. The removal is done in a flash by turning the key.
