Until 2011, the light converter was required on electric bikes from Flyer to convert the usual system voltage of 26-volt DC to 6-volt.
The component was used on Flyer models up to the 2011 or 2012 model year and on high-speed electric bike models, which were generally not compatible with hub dynamos.
In 2012, Busch und Müller launched the new e-bike or pedelec-compatible e-headlights, which had an internal "light converter". Since these new e-bike headlights have 2 power source inputs and cover a voltage range of 6 volts - 42 volts, the light converter was no longer installed from 2012.
The communication between motor or battery (26V) and lighting system, as well as between hub dynamo (6V) and lighting system is since 2012 directly on the headlight.
