If Bergamont develops ebikes in the near future that are primarily intended for an urban setting, they will most likely be equipped with a Bosch Performance Line SX. This is suggested by the manufacturer’s new products for the 2025 season. Both of the new ebikes presented at Eurobike 2024 were modern city ebikes with exactly this drive system. One has been a permanent fixture in the range for years. The other is appearing for the first time among the electrically assisted bikes.

1. Bergamont E-Ville
Many of you probably associate a low-step bike with city cycling. Nevertheless, in the past Bergamont has also made sure that the E-Ville bridges the gap to the trekking and touring sector. That’s why there were models with the most powerful Bosch motor, combined with the largest battery and a suspension fork with 100 millimetres of travel. However, anyone who uses a bike like this for three, four or five kilometres a day in the city will soon find it overpowered.
For the coming season, the current models are placing the E-Ville more consistently in an urban context. Together with the motor power, the battery capacity and the total weight of the ebikes are decreasing. Everything seems more stringently geared towards covering shorter distances where no major climbs waiting. The appearance is also changing due to the more compact dimensions and weights of the components of the SX drive compared to the CX drive. In our opinion, there has never been an E-Ville that looked as slim and smooth as the current new edition.
A typical E-Ville
In terms of appearance, Bergamont has taken up features from earlier E-Ville models. The frame lines form striking holes above the bottom bracket and near the head tube. The design also conceals a certain functionality. For example, the bike can be easily gripped at the lower opening in the frame if you want or need to lift it. The frame tube is shaped in such a way that you can easily grip it with your hand.
The familiar combination of a black and a bright second colour is eye-catching. Unfortunately, you cannot choose between one of three colour combinations for each equipment variant. Instead, each model is only available in one combination. The mounts for a front rack on the head tube may also be familiar to some of you. You can load a corresponding rack from Bergamont with five kilograms.
Different equipment for different requirements
The manufacturer has divided the model series into three equipment options. They differ mainly in their drivetrain and the respective display and control unit set for the ebike drive. The Bergamont E-Ville 30 with a 10-speed derailleur and the Purion 200 is the first model in the series. This is followed by the Bergamont E-Ville 20 Belt with a Shimano 5-speed hub gear with belt drive, LED remote and Intuvia 100. The new top model is the Bergamont E-Ville 10 Belt. The manufacturer has installed a stepless automatic hub gear from Enviolo on it. In addition, you get the belt drive and the LED Remote with a Kiox 300. The 400 watt-hour battery can be extended on each model with any of the four frame sizes S, M, L and XL with a range extender from Bosch. Prices start at 3,599 euros and then rise to 3,999 euros and a maximum of 4,699 euros.

2. Bergamont Helix
The 2020 catalogue was the last time that a bike called Helix was included in Bergamont’s range. At the time, it was a hybrid between a hardtail mountain bike and what is now known as a gravel bike. Now, the manufacturer is once again entering bikes with this title into the race for the favour of cyclists. However, the regular bike has become an ebike featuring the Bosch Performance Line SX.
That fits the bill. After all, Bergamont considers the new Helix to be an urban bike that is aimed at those who want to experience for the first time how much easier a motor and a battery can make cycling. Nevertheless, the sporty touch should definitely remain noticeable. As a result, you sit much more stretched out on the Helix than on the new E-Ville, for example.
In-house competition
In theory, the E-Vitesse would be equally suitable for such an experience. Equipped with the innovative HPR50 from TQ, in addition it weighs a few kilograms less than the Helix. However, depending on the equipment, it costs up to 1,000 euros more. Presumably, the Helix is intended to be a lower-priced alternative here. In terms of comfort, the model certainly lives up to this expectation. The suspension fork and removable battery could be two arguments that make some people tend towards the cheaper newcomer.
The Helix’s appearance is inspired by its predecessor, which featured graphic elements on the down tube and chainstay. This pattern is now being used again. The same applies to the available frame shapes. You can choose between a diamond frame and a trapezoid frame. The latter can be recognised by the addition of ‘Slope’ in the product name. Both the diamond frame and the slope frame allow you to attach a range extender. On the slope frame, you mount the Bosch PowerMore on the top tube.
Each of the four available colours indicates a special equipment variant. In the case of the Bergamont Helix 10 Belt and Bergamont Helix 10 Belt Slope, this is the model with an 8-speed hub gear and belt drive for 3,799 euros. For more freedom in hilly terrain, the Bergamont Helix 20 and the Bergamont Helix 20 Slope with their derailleur gears are recommended, each for 3,499 euros.

3. Hardcover for EPP box on E-Cargoville
Another new product is a hard cover for the cargo box on the E-Cargoville cargo bike. Its cargo box made of EPP has been available for about a year – optionally with a tarpaulin that can be pulled over the open box like the rain cover of a backpack. This quickly protects the box from rain, snow or even direct sunlight. However, this solution offers little security for the things remaining in the box.
The new hard cover is not only much more stable than the rainproof fabric cover, but can also be locked securely. It is made of the same expanded polypropylene (EPP) as the cargo box. The lid runs on rails mounted on the longitudinal sides of the EPP box frame. It slides forward on these rails in the direction of travel. The lid rises slightly towards the back. This means that it extends beyond the headrests of the box and closes flush with its back.
Six eyelets on the outside of the hardcover allow you to attach a luggage net and store more cargo underneath. The maximum load capacity is five kilograms.
The hardcover is expected to be available towards the end of this year. The price will be around 349.95 euros.
