The actual economic crisis can break havoc on small ebike startups. Consequently, you can buy their ebikes at a fabulous discount, with no risk.
The French cargo eBike manufacturer of the Capsule e-cargo, Kiffy, just went out of business. That’s why you can find their cargo electric bikes at about 25% discount. We explain why that is a bargain. A Bosch Cargo Line powered longtail e-cargo weighing only 26. kg could be something to get twice in a lifetime: for the first and last time.
Kiffy’s case
Let’s compare the only Kiffy e-cargo with the popular Tern GSD S10.
Where Kiffy’s Capsule e-cargo beats Tern’s GSD S10
Of course a Tern GSD S10 has some advantages over a Kiffy Capsule. But Kiffy’s e-cargo beats Tern GSD S10 on some key points.
- Drive: Kiffy Capsule is a Bosch Smart System, benefitting from on the air software updates and all the possibilities of Smart System e-bikes, which solely can mount some valuable you Bosch accessories, like the Bosch ConnectModule and who knows what in the future. They both have the Bosch Cargo Line drive, 85 Nm, although Kiffy’s Smart System version should be a little more silent, can be connected to the Bosch App Flow application and will benefit from future sofware updates.
- Battery: needless to say Kiffy’s BOSCH POWERPACK 545 WH SMART SYSTEM is not only about 10% more powerful than the Bosch PowerPack 500 Wh of Tern, but it’s also more modern and more advanced.
- Control unit: Kiffy’s Bosch LED Remote + Kiox 300 Display is one of the most advanced, performant and handy on the market.
- Display: it’s equipped with Kiox 300, arguably better than the Tern’s Purion
- Weight: 26.5 kg for Kiffy vs. 33.58 kg for Tern, it’s 7 kg lighter. It may be less robust, but if you don’t have to carry very heavy loads, being lighter is a clear advantage.
- Price : at €4,499 euros VAT & shipping included, Kiffy sports an astonishingly convenient price to quality ratio, the Tern GSD S10 at 5,599 seems much less priceworthy.
What about spare parts?
Being a newcomer, with a relatively small sales volume, Kiffy doesn’t feature customized components. It rather offers quite common components, be it SR SUNTOUR Mobie A32 70 mm fork, Spanninga lights, Clarks brakes and about everything else. What’s more, Kiffy has entrusted the after sale service to a bike parts manufacturer, Olympic Cycles, which has already published, hereafter, the list of all the Kiffy parts it can promptly provide.
As far as battery and motor are concerned, Bosch provides repairs and replacements for the 2-year guarantee.
