Bosch DualBattery: Compatibility and Installation

Bosch Dualbattery compatibility and installation

Are you riding a relatively new ebike, i.e. built in 2014 or later, with a Bosch motor? Then you can almost certainly install a second battery. Bosch’s DualBattery system increases the range of the ebike up to twice. You can cover more kilometres without an unscheduled stop. Above all, you save the second battery in your backpack for charging.

1. Possible combinations with Bosch DualBattery
2. Does not fit every bike
3. The crucial question of space
4. What you need to switch to Bosch DualBattery
5. Appropriate cables for the conversion
6. Complete sets ease the work
7. Comfortably reaching the motor
8. Special tools for precision all the way through

1. Possible combinations with Bosch DualBattery

With DualBattery, a Y-cable splits the connection between motor and battery. In this way, both batteries are recognized by the energy management system and their capacity is combined. This now works with all current Bosch motors and batteries. Due to the numerous potential configurations, you have a lot of options. Depending on which batteries you combine with each other, you can achieve a total capacity of up to 1,250 Wh. You can choose from the Powerpacks with 400 and 500 Wh, as well as from the new Powertubes with 400, 500 and 625 Wh.

2. Not suitable for all bikes

Not all e-bikes are equipped with DualBattery from the start. In addition, not all manufacturers offer a suitable kit to modernize it; However, the upgrade can also be installed quite easily on your own. You just need a little creativity to tackle the challenge of properly attaching the extra battery to the frame.

In theory, DualBattery works with all Bosch motors. However, in practice, it is possible that the manufacturer of your electric bike has prevented this option for various reasons. In most cases, the frame design simply doesn’t provide enough space to accommodate a second battery. Those who still want to try this are responsible for this and in any case risk the bicycle warranty. Usually a short message to the manufacturer is enough to find out what is feasible and what is not. Unfortunately, there is no list, database or similar, to help you safely clarify this for yourself.

3. The crucial question of space

If you have the green light, you can start. You will soon know which spare parts and cables you need. First of all, you need to check one basic requirement: how much free space you actually have.

Measure the available space in your e-bike frame. There is usually room for the second battery on a frame tube, on the luggage rack or in the down tube. The last option is usually the best. Depending on the type of bike, you will quickly know how to best implement your project. Electric cargo bikes generally offer several options. With a fully electric mountain bike, or generally an e-bike with a rather small frame, the risk of giving up already at this point is significantly higher.

4. What you need to switch to Bosch DualBattery

Each ebike manufacturer is responsible for fitting and attaching the batteries to the bike’s frame or rack. Battery suppliers like Bosch merely provide their solutions. Therefore, there is no universal mounting for a second battery. With a bit of luck, the manufacturer of your ebike has a kit, a mounting plate or an adapter in its range of products. Today, some brands are already offering appropriate solutions, such as the Haibike MRS Range Extender or the Scott Range Booster.

If there is nothing readily suitable on the market, you can order all the necessary components individually. These include: brackets, screws, cables, lock cylinders and cover-caps. All these are common spare parts for ebikes with Bosch batteries. It’s the collection of all the things you need to upgrade to DualBattery. What and how much you need depends on the location of the additional battery. You have to budget about 100 Euro to 200 Euro for these accessories. We have already calculated this for you using two examples. In case 1, a second Bosch PowerTube 625 is needed, in case 2 a Bosch PowerPack 500:

5. Appropriate cables for the conversion

The Bosch DualBattery Y-Adapter Kit ensures a smooth power supply between the motor and both batteries. This kit is available in our store with the item number 1228. This Y-cable replaces the original power supply cable and splits the connection that leads from the Bosch motor to both batteries. One connector socket is used to connect the battery that is already installed in the ebike. The other socket is used to connect the second battery.

6. Complete sets ease the work

DualBattery is a worthwhile option that makes it relatively easy to increase capacity and enable longer tours. This has not only become common knowledge among cyclists. In the meantime, individual manufacturers are also offering complete sets for expansion. One of these manufacturers is the Focus brand. Its adapter kit is designed for the Focus Jarifa2 model from the 2020 and 2021 model years. This ebike is a hardtail e-mountain bike in which the bottle cage mounts on the down tube are used to mount an additional frame battery. The charging socket is located at the bottom of the seat tube and points towards the down tube.

However, thanks to its carefully selected components, you can also use the set on other ebikes. It contains the following parts:

  • base plate
  • DualBat 515/430mm adapter incl. dummy plug charging socket and pin cover
  • PowerPack Frame 220 mm cable
  • plastic housing lock, incl. upper and lower shells
  • battery holder, incl. holding shells
  • mounting bracket, mounting frame and threaded pins
  • Trelock frame lock

Double check

If you want to use the set on a different model, there are two details you should pay particular attention to. Firstly, the base plate features three holes for screws, as the Focus Jarifa2 mentioned above has three mounts on the down tube. In all likelihood, your ebike will only have two mounts where a standard bottle cage can be attached. The distance between the screw points is standardised and is usually 65 millimetres. This also applies to the distance between the screw points on the base plate of the Focus set. This means that you can still attach the plate to two of the three points.

Left: base plate with three holes Right: routing of the charging cable inside the frame

The second special feature concerns the cable that leads from the Bosch PowerPack to the charging socket. It is not completely encased in black full insulation. A few centimetres are missing towards the plug that goes into the charging socket. This is because on the Focus Jarifa2, the charging socket in the seat tube is replaced with a dummy plug charging socket. The charging port disappears into the inside of the frame. And the cable passes through the dummy plug charging socket with the thinner section with the lower insulation. On your ebike, you can plug the cable directly into the respective charging socket. It is best to wrap the aforementioned few centimetres with additional insulating tape. In the end, it just looks better too. You won’t need to replace the charging socket with the dummy plug charging socket because it probably won’t fit anyway.

7. Comfortably reaching the motor

It may make your work easier having direct access to the motor. To do this, it’s best to remove the crank on the drive side and the chainring beforehand. The necessary tools for this are: torx wrench or screwdriver, torque wrench, ratchet 1/2″, crank puller, lock ring puller and Bosch SpiderTool (suitable for the correspondent Bosch Drive motor model) for removing the lock ring.

8. Special tools for precision all the way through

In the end, the conversion succeeds when the battery’s fixation points on the battery holder are the correct distance apart. This adjustment can be quite tricky. Bosch offers special assembly gauges for this, which are very helpful. However, as a special tool for specialist workshops, they also have a “special price”. In return, Bosch guarantees 100% fitting accuracy. Please note that not all gauges are compatible with all current Bosch model series.

Of course, you may always assemble it all without such a gauge. It just takes a little longer.

  1. Hello,

I want to add a Bosch Powertube 400 or 500 in addition to the powerpack 500 and upgrade my Riese & Muller of 2018 to a dual battery system. I am a bit confused on your webshop. I need the appropriate Y-cable between Powerpack 500 and Powertube 400/500 + the all parts to attach a Powertube to my ebike (I would hang it upside down under the upper bar of the frame above the existing Powerpack). What parts do I minimally need to order exactly? Is the conversion kit all I need (beside the battery itself of course)? I don’t need that gauge from Bosch, just the essentials.

  2. Hello, I’ve the cable and so on … on my bosch gen 2 from 2016 , but it do not work. The display go of, when I connect the 2 battery’s. Wath can it be ?

    1. Hello,
There is no chance to give a serious guessing regarding such a matter from the distance. It could just have too many reasons. From our point of view it would be best, if you visit a workshop and let it have a look.
      Cheers, Matthias

      1. Thank you for your comment, Matthias. I understand that there can be many reasons for the system to fail, but it’s a bit easy to say that there too many reasons and therefore not help at all. Can you maybe give some points or hints to check? There must be some straightforward reasons/ requirements that a few of your customers have overseen.

        1. Hello,
It is simply impossible to provide reliable information from a distance if it is not clear exactly which ebike is involved, which motor is installed, which software version is installed, etc. What I can say with certainty: If the motor is too old, it simply cannot implement DualBattery technology. Even if all the necessary parts are installed correctly, it cannot interpret information such as the connection of a Y-cable correctly due to the older CAN bus and the older battery management system.

Bosch launched the first DualBattery-capable motors on the market in 2017. This chronological classification may help.

          Cheers, Matthias

I have the same problem. It gets disconnected. I think the reason is that we are running and old version of the software. My bike is 2017, and I think the update to use two batteries came after….

      1. i have the very same issue! when adding the 2nd battery pack, the ebike turns off! it works perfectly fine with either the frame 400w pack OR the lrack 400wh battery, but not together… Did yiu fix it eith a software update? any help would be appreciated!!!

        1. Just installed the cable on a 2016 gen2 performance line and…….. exactly the same issue. One battery works fine, the other works fine, but together they don’t; display shuts off.
Excuse my possibly stupid question but could it be that the batteries have a (too) different charge state? I’m charging both my batteries to the max now. Hope it helps.

          1. yeah it’s still not working here…

i bought now 2 frame packs and still turns off with the good bye in the display.

so the optimistic advertisement here on this website is false 🙁 it simply does not work.
but why… it parallel connected, perhaps the battery think they are being charged and than turn off because either one of them ise higher voltage? but than thr other should keep working to thr motor?
perhaps 2 diodes? one on each battery could fix the issue? i can not find an answere. only thing i see is Bosch motors before 2017 don’t accept the dual batteries… i assume battery has 1 positive 1 negative for the power to the engine and 2 for the system display etc, perhaps there are to many signals going to the motor? instead of only the power, i dont know 🙁 perhaps a battery switch is the safest way, one battery empte, switch it over, empty one disconnected and the full bat connected..

            1. Hello,
Instead of providing “false optimistic advertisment” we stated in one of our latest comments on this topic that first Bosch motors of model year 2017 supported DualBattery. This means, first, not all motors of 2017 and, secondly, that some did, as we could witness in those days ourselves. I can only repeat my advice to visit a authorized workshop and benefit from the expertise there.
              Cheers, Matthias

          2. Edith on Matthias, since i cannot reply on your response i type it here:

i apologize for the “false information” sentence.
I have zero intention of being impolite since i was allready allowed to return the bracket and y cable set. so again sorry for the way i explained the situation 😉
As you might understand I’m busy with it for a longer period of time by now and i still want this to work, i think i add a switch to it or something because i can not find of any other issue than the motor just being to old. the Ebike is from 2019 so i really thought i was good and we had contact with the supplier who also states it should work just fine.
anyhow, ill update when I figured it out or added a switch to it 🙂 good night.

            1. Hello,
Don’t mind, no offence taken. And good luck to you and your project. You’re more than welcome to let us know, how it finally comes out.
              Cheers, Matthias

    3. Question:
I have a Bosch Smart System with a battery of 750 W on my bicycle I want to add a second one can I add one more battery besides the Power More from Bosch
      Thank you

    4. Who experienced the charge process when charging 2 batteries connected to the DualBattery system ? do they really charge alternately in parallel ?

It seems my system keeps charging the 1st battery (with a regular 4 ampere charger) until it is fully charged, instead of switching to the second one.

I successfully added the Y cable and connected two PowerTube 500 Wh. Intuvia shows correctly both batteries and they are properly discharged alternately while driving. Great thing.

      1. Hello,
Discharging the batteries works as you describe the procedure. When charging, however, only one battery is charged at a time. This is exactly as intended.
        Cheers, Matthias

    5. Hi everyone just put a bafang bbs02b 750v 48v on my bike. I have a hailong 48v 12.5 ah battery but also have a 48v 11.5 ah dolphin going spare. What people’s view about putting the dolphin in pannier bag and run both batteries in parallel.

        https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FhH4f4Bcb6E&t=77s

          https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_inIWnR39bQ&t=2s

          1. Hallo Johann,
dan heeft je vraag uiteindelijk vruchten afgeworpen. Veel plezier op je reis naar Spanje!
            Vriendelijke groeten, Matthias

    7. Hello,

      I have:

      https://www.ktm-bikes.at/e-bikes/detail/macina-multi-urban-dew-silver-black-orange-5-g-shimano-nexus-2023

Based on their description, this should be dual battery enabled, I guess 500 PowerPack (not Smart System) + 500 PowerPack (also not Smart System).

KTM stopped selling their adapter, I guess they’re going to stop selling the bike model, soon, too…

What would you recommend I buy to be able to have a local bike shop install this system, from your list, besides the battery?

Are your examples for a battery on the down tube or on the seat tube or it doesn’t matter? I think my bike has some attachment points on the seat tube.

      Thank you!

      1. Hi Ive just purchased a Canyon Grail on CF7 AXS, it comes with the Gen4 CX Performance drive and a 500w Bosch PowerTube. My question, is this the smart system and will I be able to use the new power more option, if not can it be upgraded somehow to the smart system or will i be able to instal some sort of dual system. Im using the bike for both gravel and road trips and need around 120 mile range?? sorry if it sounds a bit vague 🙂

        1. Hello Andy,
With the Bosch Purion display mounted you can easily recognize this bike as a non-Smart-System-bike. Both development stages of the drive are not compatible with each other, so there is no option for a Smart System upgrade.
          Cheers, Matthias

    8. I installed an additional 500W baterry on my Scott 900eRide. I did not replace the original cable between the battery and the motor just plugged the end taken out of the motor into the Y-Cable. The system seem to have recognised both batteries as it gave me a 200+ Range when switched on. The battery percentage however dropped as before approx 1% per km so at 100km I was dead in the water with the additional battery still fully charged. What could be wrong? Do I maybe have to replace the original battery cable and does it matter which battery is plugged in on which en of the Y Split? I did notice one end had a white tag on? Any advice would be appreciated thx Johan

      1. Hello Johan,
I doubt that replacing the original battery cable would help, and which battery is plugged in on which end of the Y Split does not matter. I’d rather ask Bosch.
        Cheers,
        Luca

      1. Hello,
I don’t know, to which comment you are referring to. If this is a general question – of course, two Bosch PowerPack 500 batteries connected correctly, would work. If your are referrring to the Qtesiong regarding the Cannondale Topstone Neo 5, the quetsion is not, if this would work, but would this be sufficient for riding safely?
        Cheers, Matthias

    9. I am a proud owner of a new Cannondale Topstone Neo 5 electric bike with a Bosch 500 w battery and motor. I’d like to add a second battery for long rides. I could either just store it on a rear rack, or wire it in if there is a DualBATTERY available. Recommendation?

      1. Hello,
Before thinking about the best option for a second battery you should make sure, this model is approved for DualBattery by Cannondale. The product page on Cannondale’s website does not mention this option. If your are not completely sure, you could contact your dealer or Cannondale itself for this information.
        Cheers, Matthias

    10. Hi, I have a Gazelle Ultimate 380 with a bosh powertube 500W and i would like to add an extra battery bosch powerpack 500W.
So my question is what do i need from cables and what do i have to order exactly for the additional battery and support.
And also, do i need special tools to open the motor compartment?

      Kind regards,

      Jan

      1. Hello Jan,
Well, it depends which bike you are talking about. The current version of this ebike features Bosch’s Smart System drive. And this is not fully enbaled for DualBattery yet. The only battery you can combine with a battery already installed is the Bosch PowerMore 250 range extender. Even in this case Gazelle need to have the PowerMore ready option approved. All other combinations will be released by Bosch during the next months and maybe years.

If your ride a Gazelle Ultimate 380 featuring an older version of the Bosch drive, you find evenything you need listed in the article. Just search for the passages that refer to adding a second Bosch PowerPack. Since we don’t have Gazelle in our shop in stock, I can’t prodvide any details about potential special tools you need to open the motor compartment.

        Cheers, Matthias

    11. Hello,

I am looking to add a second PowerTube 500 to my Niner RLT e9 RDO. I am planning to hold this in a suspended frame bag on the top tube and route a cable to plug into the battery (I don’t need it mounted on the bike).

Would I be able to use a frame/rack cable to plug into the battery? Would the second charging port allow the bike to be charged from either location (the original built into the frame, or the extra from the new cable on the Y adapter)?

      https://www.ebike24.com/bosch-e-bike-cable-set-310mm-frame-battery-active-performance

      Thank you

      1. Hello Max,
What you want to try is whether approved nor intended by Bosch. That’s the reason, why we haven’t tested such a concept as well. And we don’t recommend it. The risk of the ports beeing compromised by the weather and other external factors is way to high. If you are planning to use more than one Y adapter to cover the distance from the motor to the second battery, there is no way to tell, if the system will work, due to the reduced power at the battery.
So yes, theorectically, this should work. But the risk would be all yours.
        Cheers, Matthias

        1. Thank you for the reply Matthias.

I don’t think what I am describing would use two Y adapters. I was looking at this cable that was recommended (https://www.ebike24.com/bosch-e-bike-cable-set-310mm-frame-battery-active-performance) and saw that it has a charging port on it already that would be exposed in a battery frame mount. This battery cable, along with the existing battery cable, would then be connected to the Y-adapter to provide power from two batteries. My question was if the second charge port from the new battery cable would be functional and allow for charging from either the existing charge port or the one from the new port on the frame mount for the second battery. Does that make sense?

          1. Hello Max,
I still don’t really understand what you’re trying to do. It’s certainly not up to you. I still have a knot in my mind somewhere. Maybe also because the charging socket automatically charges both batteries at the same time. Two batteries do not require two charging sockets.
            Cheers, Matthias

          2. Hey Max, did you ever get this sorted? I have the same bike and am also trying to figure out a way to mount a second battery. I’m also considering simply carrying a second full-size battery to swap out, in which case I’m wondering what might be the ideal way to carry it snugly; does anyone know of a frame bag that would be optimal. Thanks.

            Saluti, Matthias

      2. Did you ever get this sorted out? Curious as I’ve been researching options to upgrade range on my RLT E9 as well, leaning toward upgrading to a 625w battery and keeping the 500 as a backup.

    12. I have a Trek Rail 9.9 XO1 – 2021 Model. It looks like there may be a possibility to fit a 400 or 500 Wh power pack battery on top of the downtube via the bottle cage mounts. Is it possible to fit a second battery to this generation of Bosch system? I had previously read it was not but there now appears it might be be, based on your article and trek now offering sale of power pack mounts on their website.
      Regards, Graham.

      1. Hello Graham,
Your question is not easy for us to answer either. Of course we know about the Range Boost Kit. Unfortunately, Trek does not explicitly state for which model series it is compatible. Two details indicate to us that the kit is not intended for your model. Firstly, the holder for the second battery is attached to the down tube with three screws. However, the frame of your rail only has two mounts. Secondly, the charging socket is located at the lower end of the seat tube. In Trek’s instructions, everything is aligned with the position in the frame triangle above the bottom bracket.
In any case, the question of whether it fits or not depends on the frame size. With the small sizes, there seems to be too little space along with the shock.
If you decide to try it on your own, the risk is on your side. Maybe you should ask Trek directly again.
        Cheers, Matthias

    13. Hello my bike is KTM e macina Tour CX 510.
Is it possible to connect a second battery with this Rack system?
      thx

      1. Hello,
Since we don’t know which model year you are referring to, it depends. If you ride a model featuring an ebike drive of Bosch’s second development stage, you can fit a PperRack or PowerPack battery to your rear rack easily. If you have an bike with a Smart System from Bosch, it will be compatible with a second battery in the upcoming years. Bosch will introduce the DualBattery option step by step starting with the Bosch CompactTube 400 and der Bosch PowerMore 250. Next will be the all the PowerTubes with the PowerMore 250 and so on. The exact timing is not announced yet.
        Cheers, Matthias

      1. Hello Luca,
Probably, you are referring to the KTM Macina Race 591 of the model yaer 2022. With this bike, DualBattery is an option, yes.
        Cheers, Matthias

    14. Hi I have recently purchased an R&M multicharger mixte with a 500watt powertube battery but find the range very limited. As I already have a spare bosch powerpack 400 can i fit it as a dual system on my new bike? There seems to be room on the downtube but that is cylindrical with lugs for a bottle cage. Or maybe on the pannier rack? This would help me very much if it were possible.

      1. Hello San,
The downtube provides no space for a second battery. If so, the rear rack would be the only option. Maybe you should contact Riese&Müller first to make sure, the bike is approved for retrofitting a second battery.

    15. Hi,
I would like to install an extra PowerPack 500 on a Packster 60. Is an update of the Bosch motor needed, before it will accept the extra battery, and will it charge both batteries after installation?
      Cheers

      1. Hello,
There is no update needed. Just install the second battery and go ahead. Bosch’s battery management system recognizes the additional pack automatically.
        Cheers, Matthias

        1. Hello, where in Poland I can buy the second power pack 500 ? To install this on my R&M Packster 60?

          1. Hello,
Since we are a German online shop, I can only tell little of where to buy a battery in Poland. What I know for sure is, that we ship batteries to Poland. If you are interested in that, just write an email at info@ebike24.com
            Cheers, Matthias

      1. Hi Ebbe,
Sorry, I don’t know any specifical way to attach a second horizontal 500Wh PowerTube battery to the luggage rack; I would carry it in a pannier, some are even lockable to prevent thefts.
        Thanks
        Cheers,
        Luca

    16. I have a Gazelle Cityzen S10 with horizontal 500Wh PowerTube battery and have just bought a second battery.

Is there a way to attach the second battery safely to the luggage rack?
The rails in your shop are only for the Smart System.

    17. Hello
If is possible to mount an external battery to the frame,I have a Cube 140 HPC stereo TM 750 model 2023.
      Thanks in advance 🤘

      1. Hello Zsolt,
Officially, Bosch has not yet approved the Smart System for the DualBattery option of its batteries. Therefore, in the case of your ebike, this is not possible at the moment. You should also ask Cube whether the model is approved for a second battery in general, i.e. whether there is enough space for a frame battery in the frame triangle and whether the necessary connections are prepared in the frame. Since we do not stock Cube in our shop, we cannot answer these questions.
        Cheers, Matthias

    18. Hi, is it possible to attach a range extender (dual battery) on Cube Hybrid Pro with Bosch CX gen 4 motor and Powertube 625wh

      1. Hello
To answer this question you need to tell us the full name of the bike and the model year as well.
        Cheers, Matthias

        1. does this system fit with the Cube Stereo Hybrid 140 HPC Pro Electric Dual Suspension Mountain Bike Carbon ‘n’ Metal (2022), and are you able to share the costs??

          1. Hello Guy,
You have to calculate with about 160 Euros for all the parts – plus the additional costs for the second battery itself. First of all, you should ask a dealer or Cube itself, if your bike features the DualBattery option. We don’t have Cube in our range and therefore can’t provide this information.
            Cheers, Matthias

    20. Many thanks for the article.
My bike: hardtail e-mtb gen2 cx, nyon 1, 2 x rack batteries, one is refurbished old 500wh and second is relatively new 500wh.
I bought additional battery connector cable and then prepared myself the y cable. Key was the twisted pair communication wires. Second battery placed simply in the rear pannier sack.
The old battery was on fw 1.4, software update to 1.8 costed cca. 20Euros. The Bosch’s dualbatt technology is rock solid. Because of the primitive cable sometimes the system shuts down itself incidentally, but this is rarely happens. Btw the cells refurbishing was 200Euros. As I mentioned the Bosch technology is awesome.

      1. Hello Tamas,
Thanks a lot for the insights on how you are using Bosch’s Dualbattery.
Good luck and have always a save ride.
        Cheers, Matthias

    21. Goedemorgen,

        Sportieve groeten, Matthias

    23. Hi,
Thanks for all the good info. On a slightly different slant, can you advise if it is possible to upgrade a Gen 1 Motor Battery to a later PowerPack Battery (as discussed in this article). If so can I purchase the required parts from yourselves?

      1. Hello Ralph,
Just send this inquiry to the tfollowing address: info@elektrofahrrad.de Please include some additonal information about your bike, like manufacturer, model, model year, drive unit and where your’re from. Our service team will provide you with the proper support.
        Cheers, Matthias

    24. Greetings,

I just bought a new Victoria 13.8 limited edition. It has 2 batteries and they work separately. When they are both on the bike, my systems falls out.

      1. Hello Tom,
Since we don’t have Victoria in the range of our shop, we don’t know enough about how this manufacturer integrated the Bosch e-bike system into its bikes. Therefor, I can’t answer this question. I am sure, Victoria itself or a local dealer near you, can deal with this case way better.
        Cheers, Matthias

      1. Hello Gerard,
If your bike features the necessary mounts that’s quite possible, yes.
        Cheers, Matthias

    25. We understand both battery are being drained in parallel over Y-cable. Wouldn’t it be more convenient for recharging purposes to fully drain one battery before starting to drain the second battery?

      1. Hello null,

Since draining and recharging is related to a certain stress for a battery, we think it is the best solution to do it parallel with each battery. This way the stress is limited and every battery has to stand the same level of stress, meaning every battery remains at the same performance level as well during the years of usage.

        Cheers,
        Matthias

      1. Hello Ben,

I’m not quite sure if I’m interpreting your question correctly. If you want to charge both batteries while they are installed on the bike, you use the usual charging socket in the frame. The charging current is intelligently transferred via the battery management system so that both batteries are charged alternately.

        Cheers
        Matthias
