With the presentation of the new generation of the drive, the motor manufacturer Bosch has first drawn a lot of attention to itself and the new 750 watt-hour battery. This will certainly be the talk of the town for some time to come. For some brands, this is causing a lot of excitement in the product range. Not so at Diamant. They are conspicuously relaxed about the new products for the 2022 season.
Apparently, the company has decided to favour the ability to deliver and a certain consistency for all the bicycle retailers. Let’s see if this strategy proves itself in the course of the next twelve months. For the moment, it ensures that the updates for the coming season can be counted on one hand.

2. Diamant Opal+ Esprit: New splash of colour in the range
3. Diamant Zouma Deluxe+ 2022: Everything even better under control
1. Diamant Beryll Deluxe+ and Beryll Esprit+: More torque and a different gear hub
The most noticeable change is with the Beryll Esprit+ and Beryll Deluxe+ from Diamant. On the urban low-step bikes, the Bosch Performance Line motor will replace the Active Plus. The previous unit was generally considered one of the quietest in the ebike sector. With the Performance Line, you shift up a gear in terms of torque. The maximum torque increases from 50 Newton metres to 65 Newton metres. At the same time, the maximum assistance increases from 270 percent to 300 percent.
The motor change is accompanied by a change in the drive system. Instead of the previously used Inter-8 hub gear from Shimano, the Shimano Nexus 5 is now installed. Apparently, the experience with the previous solution was not entirely positive. The version with five gear ratios does have larger steps between the individual ratios. Although it weighs less, it is specifically designed for the higher loads caused by the motor of an ebike and generally promises better stability.
Those who have always appreciated the option of a coaster on the Beryll Deluxe+ and Beryll Esprit+ do not need to get used to it. This option links the Active Line Plus and the Performance Line.

2. Diamant Opal+ Esprit: New splash of colour in the range
The Opal+ is also designed for the city, but with a sportier character than the Beryll+. In the Esprit version, Diamant has installed a smooth-running and at the same time extremely low-wear stepless automatic gearbox from Enviolo. In combination with a Gates belt drive, you get a carefree package for everyday use.
The one for the 2022 season is a little more colourful. An earthy brown, not taken too darkly, replaces the previous graphite grey as the frame colour. The new orange lettering on the down tube provides a harmonious contrast. Both have something natural about them, reminiscent of trees or the planks of a small single-masted ship. In our opinion, the manufacturer has done a good job with the new paint job.
Technically, everything remains the same. A Performance CX motor from Bosch ensures rapid progress in traffic. The battery integrated into the frame offers 625 watt hours as standard. Thanks to the DualBattery option, you can increase the capacity to a maximum of 1,125 watt hours. Depending on the riding style, surface, route profile and weather, this should be enough for a range of 130 kilometres and more.

3. Diamant Zouma Deluxe+ 2022: Everything even better under control
With the Zouma, Diamant has been targeting people who ride ebikes very intensively, i.e. persistently, for several years. The longer the distance, the more important details become, such as the correct riding position or high-quality components at the points where man and bike are in direct contact. These small details have been taken care of on the new Diamant Zouma Deluxe+.
For example, you can enjoy new grips. In principle, the previous models already met high demands. On the new ones, revised contours are supposed to distribute the pressure even better than before. In addition, the rubber compound and profile have changed slightly. Of course, ergonomics is still the be-all and end-all.
The same applies to the new saddle. It should continue to lift you into a moderate riding position, somewhere between sporty and upright. The recess in the middle is aimed at relieving the perineal area. An elastomer serves as the saddle’s frame, absorbing vibrations and making riding more comfortable. Especially in view of the S-pedelec variants of the Zouma+ and the usually extended use of these bikes, both modifications can turn out to be minor but sometimes very decisive upgrades.
